Spatial planning
Good homes begin with how they are planned.
The earlier I am involved, the more opportunity there is to shape the floor plan around how you actually want to live, rather than working within decisions that have already been fixed.
I review floor plans with a focus on room relationships, circulation, proportions, sightlines, storage and how the spaces will actually feel to move through and live in.
Working in step with the architectural phase gives us more opportunity to make meaningful decisions early and create the best overall outcome.
One of my strengths is being able to read a two-dimensional plan and understand how the finished space will feel, helping identify opportunities and potential issues before they are built.
I can still become involved later in the process, but preliminary design is where this work has the greatest impact because meaningful changes can be made before the home becomes too constrained by earlier decisions.
Interior joinery design
Custom joinery designed around the way a home functions, flows and is lived in.
With a background in large-scale manufacturing joinery, I design each element with both the overall interior and the realities of how it will be made and used in mind.
From kitchens and wardrobes through to living spaces, bathrooms and more architectural joinery, each piece is designed specifically for the home and the people using it.
I consider proportion, storage, movement, materials, detailing and how the joinery connects with the architecture and surrounding spaces.
Good joinery should do more than store things beautifully. It should make daily life easier while feeling like a natural and permanent part of the home.
Interior design
Good design is deeply personal.
The spaces we live in shape our routines, relationships and the way we feel at home. Interior design is about much more than choosing finishes, it is about creating a home that works for the people living in it and feels naturally connected to the way they live.
Every project begins with conversation: how you use your home, what matters to you, what is working, what isn't, and how you want the space to feel.
From there, I consider the whole interior, how rooms connect, how you move through them, built-in elements and joinery, materials, colour, lighting and the smaller details that bring everything together.
The aim is to create a home that feels considered and cohesive, works well day to day, and feels genuinely yours.
Specification & Documentation
Good projects rely on clear decisions and clear documentation.
Once the design direction is established, I bring the selections and details together into a coordinated specification covering materials, finishes, fixtures, lighting, plumbing, joinery and other key interior elements.
This gives clients, builders and trades a clear reference point for what has been selected, where it is being used, and how the different parts of the project relate to one another.
Good documentation helps reduce uncertainty, supports more accurate pricing, and makes communication during construction much easier.
My role is to make sure the design is not only resolved visually, but also thought through in terms of durability, practicality, availability and how each element will work in the finished home.
Construction Support
Good design still needs to be supported once construction begins.
I stay involved throughout the build, working alongside the client, builder and trades to help translate design ideas into practical, buildable outcomes.
My role is often to sit between the client and the construction team, helping clarify intent, review options as they arise, resolve details, and make sure the client understands the implications of decisions before moving forward.
Construction inevitably brings questions and changes. Having continued design involvement means those decisions can be considered in the context of the whole home, rather than made in isolation on site.
The aim is to give the client greater clarity and confidence throughout the build while helping protect the overall design intent as the project moves from drawings into reality.
Craft & Manufacture
The joinery and built-in elements I design are created specifically for the home and can be highly detailed and technically demanding.
With a background in large-scale manufacturing joinery and nearly two decades in the industry, I understand how to carry those ideas through from design to manufacture and installation.
Where I manage the manufacture, I stay closely involved throughout the process, from final site measures and production meetings through to factory inspections and installation, helping ensure the finished work reflects the original design intent.
Where manufacture is undertaken by the client’s builder or joiner, I can remain involved in production meetings and design discussions, while responsibility for final measurements, shop drawings, manufacture and installation remains with the appointed contractor.
Furniture, Lighting & Interior Layering
The final layers of a home need to work just as hard as the architecture and joinery around them.
I select furniture, lighting, window treatments, fabrics, rugs, artwork and other interior elements with careful consideration of how they will actually be used.
That means looking at comfort, scale, durability, maintenance, sunlight, pets, children and everyday wear, not simply whether something looks good.
Each choice is then considered as part of the wider interior, so the furniture, materials, colour and lighting feel connected to the home rather than added at the end.
The result is a space that feels complete, comfortable and suited to the people living in it.
