Process
Every project is different, but the approach remains grounded in clear thinking, thoughtful collaboration and well-resolved decision-making.
The process is designed to bring clarity at every stage, from the earliest spatial decisions through to the final layers of the home.
1. Discovery
Every project begins with conversation.
We talk about how you live, what matters to you, how you want the home to function and what you want it to feel like. Existing plans are reviewed through the lens of circulation, proportion, functionality and long-term liveability.
This establishes the priorities that guide everything that follows.
2. Plan
Before finishes and furniture are considered, I look closely at the spatial foundations of the home.
Floorplans, room relationships, circulation, furniture placement and key functional decisions are tested and refined, identifying opportunities and potential problems while there is still time to change them.
This is where many of the most important, and least reversible, decisions are made.
3. Design
Once the spatial direction is resolved, the interior begins to take shape.
Interior architecture, custom joinery, materials, lighting, fixtures and detailing are developed as one connected design, balancing atmosphere, practicality, buildability and the overall experience of the home.
Ideas are tested and refined through drawings, visualisation and discussion until the design feels resolved.
4. Resolve & Deliver
Detailed drawings, specifications and schedules bring the design into a form that can be accurately priced, manufactured and built.
I remain involved throughout construction, working with the architect, builder, joiner and trades to answer questions, review decisions and protect the design intent as the project moves from drawings into reality.
For my clients, this also means they don’t have to personally carry every design decision that arises along the way.
5. Complete
The final layers are considered as part of the home, not as an afterthought.
Furniture, lighting, window treatments, rugs, artwork and other pieces are selected for the way they will be lived with as well as how they look.
For full-service projects, my involvement can extend through procurement, delivery and installation, carrying the original design thinking through to a completed home.
